Nantucket Girls

I want to thank everyone for reading my blog and leaving great comments. They mean so much to me. Before I get into my stitching I would like to say a few words about Boston and the wonderful people who live here. I was born in Boston, went to college in Boston and worked in Boston for a time. I now live on the Southshore. Boston is a kinda large city with a small town feel. When it was attacked last week my heart was heavy until I saw all the wonderful first responders, medical personnel, runners and viewers run toward the blasts to help however they could. I couldn't be prouder of the people and the city of Boston. Now that the bombers have been killed and captured, the city and state can start to heal. Please say a prayer for the lives lost and the 178 people who were injured. This is the Nantucket Girls Song by PPS. This is going to be a BAP. When finished on 36 ct fabric it will be 24 " x 14". I am about 3/4 of the way though. I am enjoying stitching this piece. These are the 3 sections I have done so far. Section 3 isn't finished yet. I love the nest in section 2. I am not sure why there is a windmill in the design. Eliza is vain. She is always looking at herself and combing her very strange hair. Sorry about the bad pics. I tried to take them outside but it was wicked windy. You can click on any of the pics for a larger view. I will be back soon. I have a wonderful win from Fiona in Australia to show you and a couple of flower frogs that I recently picked up. Until next time .... Happy Stitching! Deborah

Your piece is so pretty, Deborah. I've been watching the terror in your city all week and have been so impressed with it's spirit even in the face of adversity. Something to be said for being "Boston Strong"!!!

Love that Nantucket piece. I don't think I've ever seen that design for. That must be so much fun to stitch.

The tragedy in Boston affected us all as Americans. I think it's been on everyone's mind and in their thoughts for days now.

I too have not seen that design before. It is awesome.
I am praying for all those affected.

I dearly love Boston, too, Deborah... My sister lives right in the city and it is one of my favorite places on earth to visit. My thoughts are with every one of you in the Boston area...

Your Nantucket piece is lovely--so many fun details to stitch. I'm glad you've had your stitching to help ease some of the stress of this past week...

Your WIP is so beautiful! My son's college campus is very close to the site of the Boston bombings -- part of the campus is still closed. It's all too scary for words. I'm so grateful that DS wasn't there at the time of the bombings. We love Boston -- my sister lives close by, used to live in Cambridge, so we have visited there constantly and love the area.

I was so sick all week with everything that was going on. I lived in RI my whole life until recently and you feel the pull of Boston even from there. It's such a great city.

The Nantucket piece is so lovely. I really like all the motifs.

I just love your piece! I don't think that I'v'e seen it before (like where have I been?) but I think I'm going to have to look for it.

And I still can't believe all that happened in Boston. It was so surreal. I had a hard time watching the news for all the injuries and suffering that the whole thing caused.

Your WIP is really coming along nicely! It is gonna be big--wow!

The tragedy in Boston and later Watertown still weighs heavy...Senseless violence, but the first responders did make it somewhat better. Praying for healing, both physical and spiritual. Hugs!

Our hearts were very heavy and saddened for all of the loss of life and injury to so many in Boston last week. It is difficult to think that it was only last Monday, on what should have been a very happy day at the Marathon. We're so thankful for the wonderful people of Boston, surrounding towns and first responders who gave so tirelessly to help the wounded and their families.

'Nantucket Girls' looks beautiful! It is such a fun piece with all of it's great verses.

The tragedy that Boston saw was devastating. Luckily, Boston is a place that came together as well as the rest of the country to start healing. Boston has shown that it is a truly impressive place. Your stitching is superb. I can’t wait to see the finished project.

I too grew up in a suburb of Boston, attended college in Boston, and have many relatives still living in the area. Such a tragedy at the Boston Marathon!

Your work always impresses and inspires me. Nantucket Girls Song is fantastic.
