Stitching and Thrifting!

I managed to get some stitching time in. Maybe if I was home more, I would get more done. Who knows. I finished April Word Play and love it. You can click on any of the pics for a larger view. I just love the fat rabbit in the cart. Now that I see the picture, I noticed that I forgot the word on the cart. Must get to it.
I started Spring Band sampler by LHN. I am using 32 ct. natural linen and the suggested DMC fibers.
Now on to the thrifting part of this post. Cheryl and I have been very busy hitting different spots. First up are the 2 flower frogs I picked up.
The one on the left has a cut glass bowl and a silver top. It is in great condition and under $10.00. The one on the right is a silver plate one. It is in 3 sections. It was really tarnished but polished up beautifully. It was $14.00 and has become on of my favorites. Below is a picture of it taken apart.
Stella thinks everything with her grasp is hers. This is really bad for my stitching. I used to leave it on the arm of my chair and never gave it a thought. Now that she gets on the furniture, I have lost threads, fabric and she has eaten some patterns. So something had to be done and this is what I found.
A wonderful sewing basket that she can't get into. I believe that is was homemade. I found no markings of any kind on it. I was pretty dirty but cleaned up nicely. I haven't decided if I will re-stain it or paint it. For now, it is staying as is. The inside is perfect.
It sits next to my stitching chair out of the way. The top opens on both sides. I just love it.
I found some bobbins and spools and the cutest potholder that I couldn't leave. It is so pretty.
I will end with a picture of Stella. She graduated yesterday from puppy school and is going on to another level.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving the best comments. They mean so much. Until next time....Happy Stitching! Deborah

Are you sure it's that cute little Stella that has absconded with your threads and fabric? She looks completely innocent to me! :)

You've been wonderfully fortunate in your thrifting adventures!

Oh my! I *love* the Word Play and the band sampler looks equally as pretty!! Every time I see that Word Play chart the word pussy willows stands out to me and I remember the first time I saw pussy willows as a child. They fascinated me and I would pet them by the hour. I honestly couldn't believe that they weren't alive! : ) I still get a warm, fuzzy feeling inside when I see that word!
: ) Did you use the recommended threads?

Your stitching cabinet is lovely. I hope Stella doesn't think it's a new bone!! ; )

What a find, it is beautiful. Stitching looks divine, as usual :@ Go Stella! On the obedience, not the everything that is yours is mine, you are just keeping Mum on her toes.

Puppies will get into EVERYTHING!!! LOL If they weren't so darn cute they would REALLY be in trouble.

Love the sterling silver frog. That is really beautiful.

Beautiful stitching Deborah!
It is amazing how much we have to adjust our stitching for our pets!

Love those Word Play designs. Your Band Sampler looks like it is going to be beautiful!

Great Thrift finds! I have never seen a flower frog like that silver plated one - too cute.

I have a little box very similar to yours that sits by my sewing chair. In mine, the top doors open from the center out.

Love your April Word Play and the LHN WIP. Both are so pretty! Lovely finds as well. The sewing cabinet should work nicely to keep Stella out of your stitching. Silly girl. lol! She's a pretty pup! Congratulations on her graduating puppy school!

Love your stitchy pieces, including the shamrocks in your header. I worry about leaving my current progress on the arm of the chair, also, and have thought about getting one of those magnet closing boxes from JoAnn's, but I like your "find" so much better!

Congratulations to Miss Stella! She sure is advancing quickly :)

Looks like you and Cheryl had a great day together, Deborah, judging by all the goodies you came home with. I think that new sewing basket is a wonderful solution to Stella's unfortunate eating habits!! Really pretty...

Glad you found the mistake on the April Word Play before you finished it off :)

Congrats to Stella on her graduation.
Your stitching is lovely and you got some wonderful thrift finds.
My pups will be four the end of April. I'm still sitting at the dinning room table to stitch because they find all stitching stuff too enticing to leave alone.

Love your beautiful stitching. The Wordplay pieces are so charming.

I remember that style of sewing basket/cabinet from years ago. Used to be kind of popular. Never thought of it as way to protect your stash from family!

Your April piece is so cute!!

And great finds thrifting. I love flower frogs and have never seen one like the one of the left. And great sewing basket too. I think I need something like that - Bailey has run off with whole skeins of floss a couple times. Definitely can't use them - they're too tangled and full of dog spit! LOL

I always enjoy seeing your stitching, finishes and wips. You found some fun things thrifting. I love the wooden sewing basket/box. It will be great for keeping your stitching away from sweet Stella.
